100 Castles 2026 — Official Dates

Event window: May 6th-10th, 2026
Packet pickup: May 5th – Individual (French-style) start on May 6th

The 100 Castles Route is a non-competitive cycling adventure, mostly on paved roads with some unpaved sections, open exclusively to registered participants.

Art. 1 – Registration

Participation is open to anyone 18 years of age or older at the time of registration, regardless of nationality.


Art. 2 – Medical Certificate

Participation in the 100 Castles Route requires a valid competitive medical certificate for cycling, in compliance with Italian regulation D.M. 26/04/2013, issued by a certified sports medical center or an authorized physician.
The certificate must be valid beyond June 30, 2026, and uploaded to the designated section by April 1, 2026.

The medical certificate must be uploaded online in the appropriate section — email submissions will not be accepted.

Certificates for other sports will not be accepted. Non-compliant documents will be invalidated, and participants must submit a valid replacement.

Failure to provide a valid medical certificate will result in cancellation of registration without refund.

Each participant declares, pursuant to Italian D.P.R. No. 445 of December 28, 2000, that all submitted documents are authentic and correspond to the originals in their possession.


Art. 3 – Route

The route starts and finishes in Marina di Carrara.
All participants will receive a .gpx file of the official route.

The route is personally designed and verified by the organizers, who will conduct inspections throughout the year to ensure its safety and feasibility.
The organization reserves the right to modify the route at its discretion due to road safety issues, construction works, traffic restrictions, or other circumstances.

Participants may choose to follow the suggested route or adapt it based on their own needs.


Art. 4 – Start and Event Kit Collection

Start: May 6th. from Viale Cristoforo Colombo 68, Marina di Carrara.
Finish: Whenever you like!
We’ll be happy to greet you at the 100 Castles closing celebration on May 10th, at the same location.


Art. 5 – Road Rules Compliance

The 100 Castles Route is a non-competitive cycling tour on paved and partially unpaved roads open to vehicle traffic.
Every participant must respect the Highway Code and maintain cautious and responsible behavior at all times.

Participants must be self-sufficient in managing their bicycles, carrying a repair kit for flat tires or mechanical issues.


Art. 6 – Requirements

All participants must:

  • Be in adequate physical condition and provide the required competitive medical certificate for cycling.

  • Have adaptability and adventurous spirit.

  • Be familiar with GPS navigation and basic orientation skills.


Art. 7 – Mandatory Safety Equipment

To ensure personal safety throughout the event, every participant must carry the following mandatory gear:

  • Reflective vest or straps (for low-visibility conditions or nighttime riding)

  • Whistle or bell (for emergency signaling)

  • Charged mobile phone with emergency contacts saved and GPS tracking app installed

  • Certified helmet (must be worn at all times)

  • Working front white and rear red lights (visible from a distance)

Failure to comply will result in exclusion from the event for safety reasons.


Art. 8 – Registration and Fees

Registration opens: January 6, 2026 – Limited spots available!

  • From December 10th until January 30th  – €75

  • From February 1st until March 7th – €95

Registration includes:

  • Official .gpx route file

  • Official 100 Castles Route 2026 cycling cap

  • Printed route map

  • 100 Castles 2026 bike badge

  • Media coverage during the event + downloadable photo gallery

  • Insurance coverage for the duration of the event

  • Reserved parking near the start/finish area

  • 100 Castles Route finisher cotton bag

  • Piece of Lardo di Colonnata

  • Finisher certificate and t-shirt

  • Access to travel packages via partner tour operators


Art. 9 – Registration Validity

Registration is valid only after completing the online registration process, successful payment, and uploading a valid medical certificate within the required timeframe.
The organization reserves the right to accept or reject any registration at its sole discretion.


Art. 10 – Cancellation by Participant

In case of non-participation, no refunds will be issued.
Registration is personal and non-transferable to other participants or future editions.
No event packages or materials will be shipped.

Please ensure your availability before completing your registration.


Art. 11 – Event Cancellation or Postponement

Cancellation:
In case of force majeure (e.g., pandemics, conflicts, floods, or other exceptional situations), registration fees will not be refunded.
However, the amount paid will be valid for the next edition, subject to a formal request and an administrative fee of €14.

Postponement:
If the event must be postponed due to uncontrollable circumstances (pandemics, fires, floods, earthquakes, etc.), the registration will remain valid for the new date within the same calendar year.
Registrations cannot be transferred to a future edition.


Art. 12 – Regulation Changes

The organization reserves the right to modify or update these regulations at any time in response to new environmental, health, or legal conditions.

The official event website is the only binding source of information regarding dates, participation procedures, and regulations.
Information shared via newsletters or social media is for informational purposes only and does not override the website content.


Art. 13 – Participant Declarations and Consents

By registering for the 100 Castles Route, participants declare that they:
a. Have read, understood, and accepted these regulations in full.
b. Take full responsibility for their actions during and after the event.
c. Are in suitable physical condition and have submitted a valid medical certificate for cycling.
d. Acknowledge that the event is non-competitive, with no rankings or assistance services (medical, mechanical, or recovery).
e. Understand that the roads are open to traffic and agree to comply with all road laws.
f. Accept that registration fees are non-refundable.
g. Confirm they have sufficient cycling experience and are aware of potential weather and terrain challenges.
h. Recognize that the organizers operate non-professionally and without profit and bear no civil or criminal liability for incidents or damages.
i. Waive any legal action against the organization or collaborators.
j. Authorize the use of personal data in compliance with GDPR.
k. Grant unlimited use of their image (photos/videos) taken during the event for institutional, promotional, or commercial purposes.
l. Acknowledge that the organization and its partners decline all liability for damages or incidents before, during, or after the event.


Art. 14 – Data Protection

Personal data will be handled in full compliance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) and Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003.

Data will be collected and processed solely for administrative, organizational, and operational purposes related to participation in the event, as well as for related communications.


Art. 15 – Marketing Use of Personal Data

With the participant’s explicit consent, Viaggi e Dintorni may use collected data for marketing and promotional purposes, such as:

  • Sending newsletters, updates, and offers about events or travel activities

  • Promotional communications via email, phone, SMS, mail, or social media

  • Customer satisfaction surveys and loyalty initiatives

Data will be processed only by authorized staff or appointed service providers and will not be shared with third parties for commercial use.

Participants may withdraw consent or exercise their rights (Articles 15–22 of GDPR) at any time by writing to:
